DC LGBT Health Resources

The Advocate is a print and online magazine that started in 1967. It is the oldest and largest LGBT publication in the United States and publishes editorial news related to art, politics, related to topics of interest for the LGBT community.


The Whitman-Walker Clinic is a non-profit medical provider in Washington, DC, specializing in HIV/AIDS care and serving the LGBT community. It is named for gay poet Walt Whitman (a former D.C. resident) and Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, a noted Civil-War era physician in the District and women’s rights activist.
